I am having a great deal of trouble with Forester and Garbus. I received a summons at my place of residence. I live at a local YMCA, because I can't afford anything else. I wasn't served the summons personally, it was given to the dorm supervisor, and he put it in my mailbox. To my astonishment it said that I was summoned to appear in court on July 19, 2010, and attached to it was another paper being a formal complaint that a judgement was served against me for not appearing. How if they finally found me in September, could they have expected me to be in court, and defend myself in July of that year. I contacted them and got the balence lowered to twice the original debt, $1,000, and arranged a payment program with them. The rep I talked to was very understanding, and we came up with an agreement of $200 for three months time, and then $100 a month for the four months following, still putting a great strain on me. I could not make the payment this month, and called to renegotiate the contract, in good faith at least for this month, and what I encountered was not good. They wouldn't let me talk to my case worker, said she was out to lunch, then said she was on vacation, all in the same day. They got very surly with me and hung up on me, after the third try I got her supposed superviser that insisted on helping me, I refused and he started hollering at me, so I hung up. I'll try again tomorrow but I'm really concerned that the payment is a couple days late, and no connection has been made yet to discuss it. If they file their judgement, which by the way is not on record, my lawayer checked it out then I will lose my job, and be out on the street. Please advise me on something to do.
