I am looking at using Freedom Debt Center for help. How reliable are they

Koshko....did you look into or use Freedom Debt Center? We recieved an ad in hte mail from them that they are mediators and can help reduce our debt. It's not bankruptcy, not credit counceling and it's not a loan. The phone number on the ad does not match what is on their website.

Freedom Debt Center seems to be a very reputable company. They have been around longer than most of these compaines that seem to be offering the same service. I have been in their program for 8 months and they have already settled 3 of my accounts. i should be out of debt sooner than i was quoted at this rate. I will keep everyone posted

non matching phone numbers doesn't mean anything, unless you're calling and connecting to different places.
a lot of companies send out advertising, or put different phone numbers on different ads so they can keep track of which ads are working and which are not. i work for a car dealership and we have over 12 800#s in use and more available to use.

We received some mail from them recently as part of some "U.S. National Debt Relief Plan" that is not an actual government plan, but a *trademark* owned by Freedom Debt Center. They're being investigated in New York for deceptive practices, mainly taking money up front, switching the terms, and refusing to reimburse when they are unable to actually reduce a consumer's debt.

Can you read? Freedom Debt Center is not on this list! It's people like you that scares people from good companies. Shame on you.

I have been in the Freedom Debt Center program for over a year, they have already settled 2 of my 4 credit cards and are ALWAYS in contact with me, so far I would say they are a very reputable company and have done everything they promised under their contract. Sounds like you guys are getting confused with Freedom Debt RELIEF. I thought it was the same company when I did my research, but it is not in any way connected to Freedom Debt CENTER. Hope this helps anyone in question, it kept me out of Chapter 7 BK (thank god).

I am sorry I enlisted in their program...should have just continued to make my monthly payments, now not only is my credit trashed...I will have to pay full amounts plus lawyer fees.

I had the same thing happen, I was REALLY pissed off and scared to say the least. FDC warned me this could happen, I went to court with no attorney, got a judgement and they (FDC) took the judgement after I got it from the courts and they are settling along with the other creditors....I was worried they were going to take my house or garnish wages but the judge just ordered me to pay about half of what I owed (this then went back to FDC). FDC was good about helping me through it, not sure if anyone else has experienced the same thing. It's my debt and i'm definately paying for it....so far so good. I'll keep you all posted, i've heard a lot of bad things about other companies... do your homework!

I have been with Freedom Debt Center for over 1 year and they have done nothing to help me and no debts have been settled. They keep putting me off and saying that they need more time. I am now being sued by 2 credit cards.

It's better to check around. Freedom Debt Center is not doing for me at all. I instructed my bank to stop payment for this company because they haven't done anything at all. Most of the time you are doing the work for them: Sending letters to creditors to stop calling your house. What did the FDC do? Took all monies from the scrow account and pay themselves first. None of my creditors got paid. I cancelled my account with them and demanding my money back. I will pay the creditors myself from now on. My friend is using Money Management International, very good and reputable company. I should have use it myself but no, I made a mistake in using Freedom Debt Center.

I enrolled in their program on January 28, 2010. As part of the program, I started depositing $1,425.10 on Feb. 2010 to Note World Servicing Center, which they have full control of. On August, 2010, Chase Bank filed a lawsuit against me regarding late payments on my credit cards. Since Freedom Debt Center cannot represent me in court, I hired a local lawyer from Florida. We are expecting multiple lawsuits from other creditors, so I decided to cancel my enrollment to Freedom Debt Center debt consolidation program. As of Oct. 2010, I have already deposited a total of $9, 520.60. I requested for a full refund of the total funds paid to Freedom Debt Center, but I only received $1,235.30. I contacted Freedom Debt Center to request the return of the rest of the amount, but I was told that the balance ($8,285.30) is for administrative charges. This is very unfair that I will be charged that large amount for doing nothing, because they haven???t done any negotiations yet in my behalf to my creditors.
I am now in the process of filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

To everyone,
Freedom Debt Center is a reputable company. We just completed the program and I yet have to claim the $1000 savings bond from them as a "fresh start." I was sued by 2 of my credit cards and went to court. They were very supportive and I was guided as to how to answer the lawyers and what to expect. It was not bad at all. I was able to settle before the second court date. I can't thank them enough for their help. Those of you who have not yet settled, be aggressive and try to add up more money into your account and tell them which one to settle first. Be on top of everything and not just wait and see how the company works. To sum up: Freedom Debt Center is great in what they do (cut off chunks of your bills). An example: My one card, I settled $5000 out of over $20,000 owed.

So sorry to hear of your experience. My friend was sued by Citibank and went to court without a lawyer. She was asked by the judge to tell her story why she missed payments. The judge told the lawyer of citibank to make a settlement payment plan for my friend. She did not agree to the plan and she was given another hearing date. The second court date, the lawyer gave her affordable payment plan to be paid in 6 month term, half of the original amount. My friend accepted it. When one goes to court, they won;t harass you. Instead they will help you pay it by terms you agree. The thought is scary, but it's not in actuality.

WOW!! As I read the posts, I see 'positive' and 'negative' reults from the same company. Remember...(friendly advice) when you decide on using ANY debt consolidation company, do as much research as you can on them. Then, if possible, ask around and see who has used them. Not every company works for everyone.

WARNING: Go to the Better Business Bureau (bbb . org) and you will see all of the complaints. There is an ongoing class action suit against them. Freedom Debt Center has even changed it's name now to Legal Helpers Debt Resolution.

The positive comments above where put there by the owner himself.

Most debt settlement agencies offer identical services, there is no special tricks invloved. There are no special permits nor licenses granted to those that been around longer than others. Bottom line, you should go with the debt settlement firm that would ultimately charge lower fee. Fee schedule varies anywhere from 10-18%. Good Luck.
