I'm dealing with GC Services right now regarding a small student loan debt. They gave me the WRONG address to send payments, even though it was where my first payment was received and applied to my outstanding balance. I have two further money order receipts right in front of me that they are claiming were never received (at that same address), and I have to pay about $12 to find out if they're lying to me. On top of that they've given me yet another address to mail ANOTHER payment to, which they expect me to do tomorrow. I tried calling the number listed above to ask them to mail the original money orders back to me if they have not been cashed -- I was transferred to a woman who could hardly speak English. She put me through to the "correct department" which was a number that rang and rang and rang and rang, and no I never got an answer. I sat on the phone for 5 minutes listening to it ring.

If you are sure it was GC Services, I would initiate a compliant through the attorney general for the state you are in. Usually these forms are available on your state's AG website. The reason I say "if you are sure" is because unfortunately there exists the ability for an imposter company to contact you, and have you send money to a fake address. How were you contacted by GC Services? Are they the third-party collector for your SL debt? You should have received a letter in writing from them, telling you of the debt. If at all possible for future payments, try to never send cash/MO through the mail. Even with MO's it is hard to track which rabbit hole that money goes down.

You said the first payment was applied to your balance. Where are you able to see this? Are you able to contact the student loan holder directly, and ask them where the debt is currently held at?

I don't know what else to tell you. GC Services is a very large company. I'm guessing they are at the top of the stink-heap, but your story seems very strange. It doesn't make sense that they would be outright scamming you. Usually they are very upfront with their bullying tactics.
