Hello. I recently received a letter from LVNV stating that I owe money. The original creditor is GE Capital. I requested a letter of validation from LVNV, which I just received in the mai today. I have no idea where this debt is coming from. I have several accounts in collection, but the account number that LVNV lists does not match any of my accounts. What should I do?

Basically a one paragraph, typed letter stating that LVNV currently owns acct # XYZ. The account was previously sold by GE Capital on 11/23/10. It then explains what the original debt amount was and what the new amount is due to fees. It lists a phone number that I can call to determine the exact balance.

I have no idea who GE Capital is, nor can I find the account number they have listed. How do I figure out where this debt is coming from and if it is legitimately mine??

I've gotten a few letters, from a place (they state their name is 'Midgroup') and it has two different balances on it. In addition, the date, of this so-called debt, was in 2000. One of the letters had my maiden name on it (never did anything in my maiden name) and one had my married name (married at the time). Goodness..what a mess!! Any suggetions?

to #5 resend your original DV letter with a note stating you know this isn't validation.to sdchargers.just send the standard DV letter for both.btw if one debt is from 2000 it is past SOL so you can send an FOAD letter for that one,but get a DV letter out for the other debt.send both certified mail return receipt.
