Being Sued by GE Money Bank
Date: Sun, 11/21/2010 - 23:46
I received a summons from GE Money Bank about a couple days ago. I really don't know what to do and not sure how to handle this. It says this is an attempt to collect a debt, the communication is from a debt collector and any information obtained will be sued for that purpose.
It also says an answer or other appropriate response in writing must be filed in Court by you or your attorney (which I don't have or can afford) within 20 days or a judgment by Default may be rendered against you for the relief demanded by the plaintiff. Your written answer must comply with and be in the form prescribed by the Indiana Trial Rules of Civil Procedure and the rules of the trial Court.
It was filed on November 8, 2010, but I never actually received it until last Friday (the 19th). I also don't see any trial date or time listed anywhere and I assume the superior court number is where I would supposedly go to. Who do I send/give the answer to? Do I wait until I'm in court or do I send it to the court beforehand?
I owe them $981.86 which isn't too much, but I also don't make that much either.
Anyone have any experience with this and could give me a run through what I'm supposed to do and what I need to include in this letter? I really stink when it comes to court/law stuff.

Well, I did google it but didn't really understand it all that well, and the website just gives me the court information (clerks, judges, phone numbers). I suppose I'll give them a call tomorrow and see when the court date is, or I suppose I can drive by there.
