Getting ready to do debt settlement. Husband passed away from cancer 2 years ago and I have been trying to hold on but no luck at this point. Can't do a BK because I have a security clearance.

Debt settlement may lower your debt by 60% or more.

Thanks for the reply. I pretty much have just decided to go no and take the plunge. I have been reading this site others to research before I did it.

Everything I have been reading has really confirmed what I need to do.

Have you actually spoken to your CO about your situation? The reason I ask is I have known people who have declared bankruptcy and that had no effect on their security clearance at all.

I am actually retired and now a civil service employee. I wouldn't dare say anything to anyone. I happen to be in a field where we have to submit financial disclosure forms every year and we handle billions in Government dollars (ironic huh?).

Anyway, I have decided to just keep paying a couple of the accounts so they won't garnish me and just let the other ones go to settlement.
