Debt Consolidation...What to do?

I currently have a good credit score. I want to get rid of my credit card debt of about $12,000. I pay on time each month sending more than the minimum payment, but it just seems like it's not budging! I've even tired paying my minimum online, then sending a check with extra and "apply to principal balance only" in the memo line. I'm frustrated! I do not use my cards anymore either. I wish I had a better occupation, "salary wise" - being a public school teacher with a governor that just took a half percent of our total salary out of our final check doesn't help!

Welcome to the Community :D I am not sure if you are wanting to ask about debt consolidation, debt settlement, or do it yourself. If you are wanting to pay the debts off, I will tell you what I did and how it helped me.

I took my lowest balance credit card and paid as much extra as I could on it-we did without alot, but it was worth it--I did this until I got this one paid off. I then took my next lowest balance card and added the other cards payment to that one, and any extra if I had it and paid that one off, and so on. It took some time, but it took alot of time to get into the mess,too.
