Up to my ears in high interest debt
Date: Tue, 01/22/2008 - 08:19
It will feel good to write this out in a format such as this.
I started taking out high interest loans about 2 years ago because of an addiction I was dealing with (those details are for another forum...) I have been in recovery now for over 3 months. I am not spending money on my former addiction and I am not taking out any new loans.
I am however paying off all of the loans I took out. These include Pay Day Loans, Signature Loans, Check Loans and online loans.
I haven't done the math yet but I am sure that I am in debt to the tune of about $8000.
I have a full time job as a teacher, I have taken two part time jobs in the evenings and weekends. I am working my ass off to pay these debts off but it seems like a long road ahead.
I'm willing to do what it takes but I wonder if some kind of debt consolidation loan isn't a bad idea. As with all of these kinds of debts they are at an extremely high interest rate and while there is a date for a final payment on each of the loans I wonder...
Any suggestions and help anyone might want to offer mw would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Henry

Could you list any paydsay loans you have and tell us the following?
Who they are with.
Internet or storefront.
How much you borrowed.
How much you have paid on each one.
The state you live in.
Anything that was taken out online please list also.
Consolidation is probably a good idea for you regarding your signature loans and revolving charges if any.

It's great to hear that you are cleaning up your life. Yes, it's going to be difficult for a while, but when you have conquered this debt you are going to be a different person forever. Make getting out of debt a QUEST. Get on a tight budget, sell everything but your kids if you have them. Pay your minimums on everything and apply every extra dollar to the smallest debt and knock it out then move to the next. You sound like you have what it takes to do this. Best of luck to you.
