Prosper.com vs Credit Union

I have about $12000 in credit card debt with high interest rates that I want to consolidate. What advice do you have for doing this? Prosper seems like a very good site but I've heard a credit union would also work.

i use prosper. they are great. the only thing is that really consider the amount of money you ask for. If you do not get enough funding for the exact amount before the deadline you have to start all over. Also be very clear as to why you need the money what your situation is like. this helps potential lenders decide. I'd use them again.
