Is it too late to hire a debt settlement company?

My debt has been charged off, and was wondering if it is too late to hire someone to help?
I was considering filling out the information form on this site and talking to one of the debt settlement companies.
How many debt settlement companies does this site work with, a handful or many?
The only reason I ask is I would like someone that I can trust.
I don't have the energy anymore to handle this by myself.
