Hi,

I owe Cap One approximately $1600. They sent the debt to Leading Edge Recovery (Chicago). They have been trying to collect for a while but I do not have the money. If I did have the money, I would just settle with Leading Edge for the approximately $800. I'm searching for a job and hope to be able to pay the debt before the end of this year.

In June, I tried to stall Capital One & Leading Edge with a debt validation. That didn't work. In the letter I asked then to cease and desist for 30 days. Last week Cap 1 sent me a letter saying they received my cease & desist letter. They seemed to have ignored that my request was for 30 days, which has passed. Now, I am concerned they will sue me.

I can call Capital One and explain my situation. But I stopped paying them over a year ago and I do not have the funds to pay them now. I realize $800 isn't much - unless you don't have $800. I'm concerned if I tell them I cannot pay now, they will sue sue me.

I thought about trying to get another credit card and pay the $800 to Leading Edge. That would give me time to recover but I'll owe the new credit card company. Of course, that's shifting money and I'll owe someone. But I need to bye some time until I can find a job and get a paycheck.

Anyhow, what can I do to stall them and not have them sue me?

Thank you!

In the eyes of Cap One I can see why they would think I am being difficult. I made a mistake. I've made alot of mistakes. I need a job and I am currently sending resumes and searching for a job. I want to pay this but I do not have the money to do so right now. What can I do to stall Capital One? If I call or write them a letter explaining my situation, will they work with me or will I make it worse on myself? I need some good advise, not a slap on the hand as I know I've made mistakes. No disrespect intended but I need to know what I can do now to stall Capital One.
