How do I save myself if someone files a lawsuit against me after enrolling in a debt settlement program?

First of all, you should learn that debt settlement won’t provide you with any legal protection. So, if you face a lawsuit after enrolling in a debt settlement program, you’ve to take a stand for yourself.

You must answer your lawsuit. Don’t make the mistake of not responding when you’re sued. Check out whether or not the Statute of Limitations on your debts has expired. If SOL period on your has expired, then use it to defend yourself in the lawsuit and get the lawsuit dismissed. You can also sue your creditor if he/she violates the provisions of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Moreover, you can always hire an experienced attorney to help you through the lawsuit.

Don't ignore the lawsuit. Read the legal papers and take proper action. You may get advice in this context from the debt settlement company you enrolled with. You can post your query in law forums for free advice. Remember, you won't get any legal protection from the settlement company.

MOD NOTE...debt settlement companies cannot give legal advise when it come to a lawsuit. They are not attorneys. Law forums are dubious.
