debt negociation

I'm having to leave the country because of my immigration status and would like to negotiate my debts with my creditors. I tried calling them and explained the situation and asked if they would work with me since I don not want to leave my balance behind. But I was surprised to see that almost most of them would dnot work with me since my accounts are all in good standings. How should I proceed then?
