We live in Texas and want to know if anyone knows of any programs that will help with medical procedures that need to be done. My husband has been on workers comp after being electrocuted at work for two years with back realted surgeries due to this injury. Now, he is needing test for colon cancer done. There are several cases of colon cancer in his family and he has been experiencing some signs that need testing for. The hosp. wont do it without 2500.00 upfront and being on workers comp, and no insurance, we feel out of luck. Medicare wont kick in until July '08. If it is cancer, it could be way too late. Please help...my email is email address removed as per forum rules - Mike
Thanks so much!!!!

christy-n-tx,
I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this! I found a website (maybe you found it as well?) while it was made in 2001 from the Univ. of Texas, it may give you some contacts as to who to talk to.

it's a long link i know but i was impressed with the information. It gives you some names and numbers to call. I sure hope that if we hear from you again you'll tell us that you've had a break in your case. prayers from pa! please keep in touch

So sorry to hear about your situation!! Are they any clinics that could help you?

I'm not sure if Cobra is available where you are or the specifications of it.

I did find the Texas Department of Health site...http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/ maybe that will help?

If they have services to screen cancer for women, they really need to set up programs for men as well.

Hi. I, too, am sorry to hear about your family's situation. I will definitely keep your family in my prayers. In my county, there is a hospital that is basically gov't finded, and can't turn anyone away, no matter what their situation or whether or not they have medical insurance. Is there a hospital like that in or around your area? There are actually people who come from hundreds of miles away because not only is the hospital one of the best, but they WILL NOT turn anyone away. I hope that you are able to find a similar place and your husband can get his medical needs met. Again, I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
