I live in MI I am being sued by a lawyers office for 3 bills for my son whom had medicaid at the time (2006) The state told me to let them know I am working with them to rectify the problem. When I told them this they were so mean and said if I don't pay I will be issued a summons and proceedings will continue. PLEASE help what do I do?

If you are not having any joint account with your son or if you aren't listed, then you are not liable to pay the debt. You are responsible only if you have jointly incurred the debt.
