i recieve a letter from this company an old credit card that has been closed and charged off they have never send me any letters now they want money as i was looking on the court paper case i also noticed they put a judgement against me it looks like over rent i own a house why after 4 years would they do this can they take my ssi or retirement help

They can't take your retirement, but they can take cash out of your account IF they get permission from the court and IF they know your account number and bank.

I would try to settle with them. They usually will settle for 50% or less, lump sum payment, if you can afford it.

You might want to contact a lawyer
