You should send a debt validation letter to Midland Funding LLC in order to check out whether or not they really own your debt. If they cannot validate your debt, you won't be liable for paying off the dues to them.

The fact that the credit card company went belly up is irrelevant....the debt doesnt go away just because the company does. More than likely the debt was bought in the bankruptcy by some other company as an asset.
What state are you in? When did you pay on it last? With luck the debt is out of SOL and you can use that as your defense when answering the summons. Keep a watch on the case and make sure your show up in court.
Sending a DV after receiving a summons will NOT suffice. The court system is now in the loop and not validating will not stop the court case.
