I have about $25,000 in debt on 3 cards. I am considering using a company called Debt Reduction Services, Inc. They advertise that they are nonprofit and that they are A-listed with the BBB. I would have to pay a $40 fee, $578 a month for 5 years. It will be very hard for me to pay that amount but I have to figure out a way to make some progress as all I can do is pay minimum fees right now. I would really appreciate any info/advice. Thanks (I'm a single mom, not high income)

Has anyone used this company? They say they are nonprofit and say that they are on BBB's A-list. They say they can negotiate much lower interest rates for me and help me pay my debt of much quicker. I am single mom, not high income, and I am getting desperate to figure out what to do. I don't want to make a mistake and go with the wrong optin. I owe about $25,000 in credit card debt. right now I am scraping up the minimum monthly payments but that barely covers interest of course and at this point I could be doing this the rest of my life. Plus I keep charging other things to be ble to make minimum payments on the cards and I am running out of credit.:?::?::?:

contact consumer credit counselors about a possible debt management program. if the payment they want is more than you can afford, you are better off to settle your own debts. stop using your cards, stop making payments and use the money for what you need. save any money left over for settlement, along with your tax refund... debt reduction companies are a pain, can get you in a bigger financial mess than you are in now, and the fees are out the window..

It's not mandatory that you've to go for professional help. You may try doing it on your own. A self repayment plan could be a better option at times. Please go through the following page -

Some of the debt reduction companies are good if you're able to explain your current financial strength. Remember to check their accreditations and the length of time that they have spent in this business.

I wouldn't recommend them. They say their non profit, but somehow I ended up paying 9,000.00 for 5,000.00 debt. They do get the intrest down for you and keep the crditors from calling, so that's the only thing cood about them.

Hi,
As you've said that you owe $25,000 on 3 credit cards and your present financial ability is to just make the minimum monthly payments. But the longer time you spend making the minimum monthly payments, the longer you will remain in debt and you may even end up paying a huge amount on accumulated interest rates.
Therefore, as per my suggestion, I think you can straightaway consolidate your debts and bundle your payments into a single monthly payment. With lower interest rates and lower monthly payments, you will be able to save a lump sum amount of money every month.
As there is an increase in the number of scam companies, you must always check the non-profit status of the company before resorting to it. Check whether or not they can show you the 501 (3) (c) certificate that has been rewarded by the IRS.

I would call 866-833-6398 they settled my debt for less than 23 cents on the dollar and I paid the creditors directly. I personally would pay only the creditors directly.

the best debt reduction service -- YOURSELF !
i dont trust any of them.. got burned by one cause they sent letters to creditors the day after we enrolled -they said they would not contact them til the first payment was made (we cancelled 5-6 days later). we did not know they sent the letters until almost 4 months later..
