i Have a debt with household credit that was first delinquenand and charged off closed on 11/2003 in the amount of $1929.00It was sold to the bureaus. The date reported was 9/05 I am going to need to take a mortgage out this year. Should i call this company and try to settle

Is the debt still within the legal statute of limitation? Do you have other delinquent accounts in your report?

Single negative information might not affect your prospect of getting mortgage. Also influence of a negative item gradually reduces with time. Hence, if the account is beyond SOL, I wouldn't bother paying it back. Moreover, it's going to fall off your report within a year or two. Trying to pay back this account would reset the 'sol' which may damage your score even more.
