I just moved to California in January and I have a few new bills that are seriously putting me over the top (SoCal is disgustingly expensive to live in). I am going to need to get with a debt consolidation firm.

I filled out the "free consultation" form this morning. I take it someone from this website calls me to give me the names of a few companies located here? I looked on the "rankings" page and only one company has any feedback that is less than 2 years old, which adds to my skepticism.

How does the whole thing work?

It is your choice whether you want to sign up with the consolidation company in your area for their services. This website connects you to one of the company for the free counseling only, with no strings attached. It doesn't hurt to take some free professional advice. Before you sign up with anyone, make sure that you have researched them with the BBB and the local DA's office.

There are several companies with active threads currently being discussed on the boards. Research them thoroughly and then decide to go with the one that could best meet your needs. You can always also ask the members of the community for feedback. Good luck and let us know what happens, OK?
