I was just told by another consolidation co that per the law I can only get assistance from a non-for profit organization no a consolidation co. Is that accurate?

Yes thats true , well kind of . The only companies that can legally offer debt settlement services in your state is a attorney licensed to practice law in NJ. If a non licensed law firm or settlement company gets caught operating in that state they will get fined 50K.
