Has anyone used New Leaf Debt?

Well, they are awarded with a D by BBB. Check it out.

If you are in look out for a consolidation company you can try with the companies listed here.

Beware: Do not use this company. they will take your money and not do anything about your debt. Then once you find out that they have not contacted your creditors and you wish to cancel your account with them, they will not refund your money.

New Leaf Debt does exactly what they promise you they will do. The BBB admittedly ranks all companies that offer Debt Negotiation/Settlement Services, in their line of consolidation products/services as an F to start with. So it actually takes years to move up to a D, as silly as that sounds. The individuals all over these boards that say that consolidation firms will take your money and "not do anything", Most often do not understand the program that they have selected. This may be the difference beteween the quality firms and ther firms with hundreds of complaints. The quality firms, like New Leaf, make sure to explain the options thoroughly to their clients, before helping them select an option. Anything less will lead to hostility, unlimited complaints, and overall bad feedback from their clients. I think New Leaf is one of the "good guys", I refer clients of mine to New Leaf when they cannot afford to repay their own credit card debt. Typically, I use 2 years as the guideline. All situations are different, but if the client cannot budget to repay their own unsecured debt in the next two years 'on paper', it is unlikely to happen in reality.

I think Financial Advisor is New Leaf Debt's spokesperson. New Leaf Debt located in Frisco, TX is worthless. My wife and I used them after considering all options. Even then, I was leery due to the nature of debt settlement company's. You need to realize that you pay fees to the company the first year. So you do not start building a balance in your funds until after the first year in the program. After that you pay $75.oo a month as a service fee. Needles to say they never contacted our creditors. When we would talked to the creditor’s they would request the power of attorney given to New Leaf Debt. They never received this or any communication from New Leaf. They also warned us that legal action could be taken against us. Every time my wife contacted New Leaf they told her "don’t worry the creditors are just using scare tactics". Well, we were sued by three creditors which New Leaf was supposed to take care of. When we contacted New Leaf they wanted us to pay more fees for legal counsel. We eventually had to file for bankruptcy and haven’t heard from New Leaf since. We have sent certified letters (which were returned), my wife tried to talk to management (got the run around, no apology), and even filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General’s office and BBB. The response from the BBB complaint wasn’t even from New Leaf; they passed the complaint to an outsourcing company who responded pathetically. As crazy as this sounds every customer should matter. The fact that there are only 11 complaints in three years is bad when you are dealing in a business like this. Do you really want to take the chance of being one of those 11. Because we became one of the few and look where we are. We are still fighting to get our fees refunded from New Leaf Debt for failure to fulfill our contract. For over one year they sat there and collected the fees without any action. New Leaf is a horrible company all around. Before considering them I would visit the Texas Attorney General’s office website and read about these debt settlement services beforehand.

I agree 100% they take your money and run. They don't negotiate, or they are very slow, i don't know which. Save your money. I've settled out of court before they've done anything..you call and call, same answer. Well we'll let u know...then nothing for a long time, meanwhile your cc's keep going up and up...don't waste your time..

New Leaf is a scam! They took about $3,180 from my checking acct, failed to deliver contractual promises, never contacted any of my creditors or sent me any statements monthly as promised. I ended up being summoned by one of the accounts they were supposed to be dealing with and eventually had to file for bankruptcy further ruining my credit. Emails or calls will go unanswered and say good bye to your money if you just happen to engage in business with them.
