I have been contacted by J.A. Cambece law office. From the internet I have gathered that their only office that is licensed seems to be the Peabody office in MA. I was contacted by an office from Beverly, MA .

I am in Florida and the debt they are seeking to collect on is from Florida. I got a credit card with Bank of America when I started college because the banker told me it was a good idea. I was doing fine making payments with the help of my student aid and parents but then in 2008 I was no longer able to make payments. I was told I couldn't borrow any more from the government to go to school and financial troubles have rendered my family incapable of getting back on our feet. We are struggling bit by bit. I just recently was able to find a job (yeah it took me a long time for someone to hire me). And about a week ago I got a call from J.A.Cambece law office (a non attorney debt collector was who I spoke to from the office, he made that clear like 3 times) and was told they owned the credit card debt and that they wanted me to make a payment right then. When I said I couldn't pay the full amount which was over 2000 dollars, they said I could pay them 500 dollars now and then set up payments for the rest or I could pay them 1200 to clear the debt. When I said that I couldn't do either of those that day, they said "Is that really the stance you want to take?" Like it was a choice that I didn't have money on me. He then asked if I could charge it on another credit card. When I said I didn't have any credit cards, he asked if I had a friend or family member that I could use their credit card to pay off the debt and then I could pay that person back. He said that I stopped making payments in 2008 which sounds correct, so my dad got me thinking about the Statute of Limitations on the debt. What is the Statute of Limitations on this debt? How should I deal with these guys?

What was the date of first deliquency for this account?? SOL for Florida is 5 years on open ended account...(our chart is WRONG)
You could be past the SOL and you could tell this guy to go to hell.
