I have been with Novadebt for since early 2005 and I am very satisfied with their service. They consolidated my credit cards of about $10k and lowered my interest rates from 27% & 29% down to 6% for Chase, and waived the interest fees for AMEX. Their monthly service "fee" is a voluntary contribution. Even though they will initially try to set you up with a $30+ monthly contribution, I told them I can only contribute $2 a month instead, and have had no problems with that. They also offer a "Credit When Credit is Due" workbook, that, when completed, will raise your credit score.

I finally paid off my AMEX and Chase is soon to follow. I highly encourage anyone who is seeking credit consolidation to consider this company.

Novadebt also known as Garden State Consumer credit counseling is the best. I was in about 25k worth of debt a few years ago and they helped me consolidate it all and I paid it all of in less than five years. They are the best, they are based in Freehold NJ and just about licensed in most states I have looked at for banking division registry.

I highly recommend Novadebt. They have helpmed my husband and I get our life back on track. We were on the verge of bankruptcy. Bank of America suggested that we contact Novadebt for assistance. I am so glad we did. We have been with the company for a year and three months now and our balances are finally DECREASING!!! Before Novadebt, I was with a different agency, where I was required to send my payments throughh Western Union. That requirement was costing us more in the long run. That is when I suggested to my husband that we have to do something because we were sinking more and more into debt. Novadebt thanks for all your hard work!!!! There is still good people out there in this world!!! Sincerely Melissa NC

I can't find them in any of the 'watchdog' nonprofit databases ( and

Who funds them? I can't find that on their website anywhere.

Who is on their board? I can't find that on their website either.

Seems odd -- and the fact that Chase referred me to them and said Novadebt could maybe secure a lower interest rate for me on my Chase account than I could secure myself as a customer .... it smells fishy.

Regarding Novadebt, this article found on the internet:

WILMINGTON, Del. ??? March 1, 2007 ??? As part of its long-standing commitment to help consumers with financial planning and education, Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), is donating $1.3 million per year for three years to multiple organizations across the United States through its new Financial Literacy Grant Program.

"Chase believes that everyone should have the opportunity to increase their financial literacy," said Carter Franke, chief marketing officer, Chase Card Services. "We know these grants will make a difference in helping adults and young people learn to use credit responsibly and be smart financial consumers all their lives."

There is more to the article - yes, we were referred by Chase AFTER taking HOURS to attempt to negotiate payments. It does seem strange and suspect especially when they 1) are referred by the financial institution that you are attempting to negotiate with and, 2) they HAVE RECEIVED financial support from the financial institution that referred you!!?? On the other hand Consumer credit counseling Service (the oldest) has received funding from Chase as well in addition to funding from B of A. I will tell you this much, CCCS recently intentionally lied to us about the appointment process, causing us to lose SEVERAL valuable days, but that was the individual not the organization (or least we'd like to think so).

Novadebt is for counseling not settlement. Shady or not at least with them YOU are in control of what's going on and your money. I still recommend doing it yourself though. but they are close enough.

When it comes to money I feel EVERYONE is out to get me. Having that belief makes me sharp on spending. Whether it is true or not trust no one.
