Being released from orginal creditor
Date: Wed, 12/22/2010 - 13:00
I was told that if your debt goes to a CA and you end up settling, to ask the CA to release you from the original creditor and give this to you in writing, so that they won't come back later and sue you. Can original creditors actually do this? If so, what can I do to avoid this?
When you negotiate, you just need to be clear about the language
When you negotiate, you just need to be clear about the language. If you have in writing that whatever amount you're paying is settling the account in full, that's sufficient.
