Settling with creditcard companies or with there collection

My husband had a chase cr card that we stopped making payments on back in feb 2004, because we had signed up with a company called Emergency debt relief that was suppose to help us pay 50% or less on all of our outstanding credit cards, which we were enrolled with them for a period of 3 yrs. They in turn were paid close to $8,000. for their services but if we still had any accounts that they couldn't complete in that 3 yr period we were left high and try. So needless to say Chase was the account that didn't get a settlement, so Chase apparently sold it to Cach, when Cach started calling us home & work my husband tld them to stop calling @ his job. And I set up the no call on our phone. So we haven't heard anything from cach until I rec'd a letter in the mail from a local attorney saying he had read on the Daily Commercial Recorder that a lawsuit had been filed against us by Cach LLC. we still haven't received anything. So after all this my question is I pulled my husband credit report and Cach is listed with a different account number than the original we had with Chase and on date opened it reflects 07/2006 and date of status 02/2004 .However on the credit report where Chase shows the correct card number it states transferred, closed past due 180 days written off with the amount and there date of status opened 01/1984 date of status 12/2006. Do I dispute Cach on the credit report for any of the dates or do I send Cach your Debt verification letter. please walk me thru this. I'am just not sure what my first step should be.

Have rec'd a few calls in the past from Law office P Scott Lowery, which we never answered then a few months ago they started calling my husband job, after the woman called for 2-3 days he finally spoke to her and asked her not to call him @ work again, she told him she had the right to call him anywhere, he tld her not to call @ work agin. At that time I did the no call registry for the 2nd time on all numbers. so noone has called for about 4 or 5 months, Then last week I get an advertisment from a lawyers office saying he has seen in the Daily Recorder that we are being sue by CACH LLC. We still haven't rec'd anything in the mail or any calls from anyone. So I sent Bud Hibbs an email explaining same I finally rec'd an answer today "Get a Lawyer". I stumbled across your website & am trying to get some answers for recourse of action. At the moment I don't have any money to contact a lawyer. Please HELP!!!!!!
You can send the a debt validation letter, and also dispute Cach
You can send the a debt validation letter, and also dispute Cach with the crdit reporting agency. I would check with the court clerk to see if a suit has been filed, and when. If one has, you need to answer the summons within a period of time and show up in court with all your documents. I would be leery of anyone soliciting me saying they saw where I was sued. In my county we have a legal newspaper that lists judgements, suits, etc. Try to get a copy of the paper he said he saw your husbands name in- sounds like they ar trying to scam you out of money-but I'm not an attorney Check with the clerks office and see what they have, and go from there..Good Luck..KAren
