How do I find out if debt is past statue of limitations?

Hello,
Newbie here. I have recently begun to try to pay off all of my debts so I don't have to declare bankruptcy. I have spoken with all creditors and for the most part have gotten my amount due down to 50% of original. Still working on lower. However, I have two cards that have approx $2000 each on the
, and I have been served papers on them. I probably had made a payment since summer of 2002, which is when my debt problems began. One of the companies actually went into my checking account (have since swithced so they don't have routing #) and took everything ($900). the other has done nothing but serve papers. When I first received the papers I called them both to set up payment plans, but quickly realized that wasn't possible. Both of these debts are with "attorneys offices" or whatever they consider themselves.
My question- is there a way for me to find out if I am even still within the statue of limitations? I mean, if I am past it, and the debt is gone, I can easily pay off all of the other debts I have (much smaller). I'm in Ohio and I believe the SOL is 6 years.
How can I find this though?

A simple Google search will find the statute for you! The problem is once you contact anyone and try to make arrangements you have restarted the date from the day you acknowleged the debt being yours. If they had your account number they also must have had a recent check from you and a judgement against you. That would restart the statute also! I wish I had better news for you!

Thank you.
