I am at my limit with my bills

Is there any way you can make larger payments, more than the just the minimum a month? This should help you eliminate the over limit fees.

Cut the credit card into two pieces. Inform your creditor to close this account for you. Then you can work out payment arrangements. You don't want to see the balance going up by keeping the card active, right?

Be careful closing an account with a balance. Some will charge you a monthly "maintenance" fee!

Try this...

If you choose not to close the account, take the card and freeze it in a block of ice in your freezer. Or put it in a safe deposit box - anywhere that you cannot access it easily.

If you feel you can do that and be disciplined enough not to use the card number for any purchases, and start paying the bill down each month, you should soon find yourself on top of things. And by not closing the account, it will start reflecting positively on your credit report.
