Advice on payday loan situation

Could someone tell me my state has a law on pdl's of only one renewal so does this mean that when they keep renewing me that, that money should now go towards the balance of the loan. I am a little confused.

I have a few pdl's out there, one was United and I got a call from a lady @ Bass yesterday, she only said "this is a final attempt to make contact" on the message. Not knowing who it was, I hit redial and the greeting talked about if you were an attorney, ect., then she came on (Candice King) and said Utd was her client & they will press charges/prosecute me and my former employer (they closed down our plant since then) since I used the PC at work to obtain the loan of bank fraud and other things, I don't remember exactly what she said now. She was accusing me of taking the loan without intent to repay - she went thru saying they would notify authorities here and I would be facing charges. After agreeing to make 2 payments of $400 each, I asked if I could send 3 pmts. - she agreed but said the 1st had to be sent by Money Gram today by 1pm CST. I could hear background people that sounded like others being threatended the same way, so I am now wondering if this is more of a collection agency, so I googled the 877-281-2224 # & found this site - from reading a couple of posts, it sounds like maybe this is just a threat???? Would they press charges? Should I only send what I can (about 100.00 today)? Any help will be appreciated, I am scared - my husband does not know about this and I don't want legal trouble. It is a threat I wish that I had googled them before I paid them. They have left me short now for a couple of weeks because paying them on top of the bills. But they can not arrest you it is a fraud. They just want you to pay so they can make there commission.

defiantly a threat, don't send any money until they validate the debt...which they most likely won't. I havn't seen a post yet where somebody was successful in getting the debt validated from this company. It's a good thing you found this site before sending them any money, some people didn't get so lucky.

Thanks so much Pink Lady and Swoozy. I just typed up a letter to Bass and attached excerpts of the FTC Act for Harassment, Cease, Communications and highlighted them. I turned the table and told her that I want a debt validation, and for her to cease the calls. I said if they call me, my family, friends or my employer I WILL get an attorney immediately. Hope it works! I want to pay if I owe something, but I don't think I do....especially not the amount she said! Thanks again, good luck to all and any insights are helpful!

How do I get a refund from Bass when i've alrady sent them money? I sent it to them before I found this site. I also have 4 store front pdl. I have arraingements with 2 of them, another is paid down to $100 owing, and the other I have arraingements with, but haven't been able to meet that arraingement. I have a message to ccca for credit counseling to see if they can rework arraingements with those store fronts. I live here in Oregon, where the pdl companies have carte-blanche. They can do and charge what they like, I think. i know that next year there is a strict law goint into affect, so the ones I owe money to are scrambling to send me to court so they can garnish my wages. I filed bankruptcy 3 years ago, so that's not an option for me. Any thoughts?

Does anyone on this site have the address for Bass and Associates or Bass Prelitigators by chance. I do need to send a letter and I don't have the address. No one there has sent me anything and I need to get a letter out to them really quick. I have looked up Tennessee Laws about PDL's and they are just threatening me. Thanks.

I just received a call from this bass and associates. the person on the line was very rude and telling me I should get a lawyer because they are suing me for the past debt. I just signed up for debt cc and I don't have the money to pay back in full. I live in TX what are my options.

First of all, don't sweat it! Bass & Associates real name is Bass Prelitigations and they are located in Florida. Also, make them validate the debt. They violated the fdcpa in regards to the threats. File a complaint against them with the Florida AG. Do not send them a dime.

If tell them not to call my palce of employment, aren't they suppose to stop only using the numbers you didn't tell them not to call?

Yes, they are supposed to stop calling if you tell them not to call you at your place of employment. Some places don't listen and they are violating the Fair Debt collection laws.

This may sound harsh but......CLOSE YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT ASAP. This will stop the ACH payments.

Open another checking account in a different bank.

You can try to work with the payday loan people.....believe me you will be receiving plenty of phone calls and letters once they stop reveiving the ACH payments.

Don't give up.......if all else fails and they simply will not leave you alone, file chapter 13 bankruptcy....think about it....how much worse can you credit score be?

Does the government need to be look into the payday loan business dealings You Bet They Do!

why is it difficult to find help for a store front lender? Who can I contact to help in payment arrangements with them?

Well if you have contacted the storefront and they are uncooperative. Then I suggest contacting their coporate offices.

If you get no answers there. I would file a complaint with the Attorney General office.

im receiving calls from people that sound they are from india or iraq telling me im going to jail for check fraud on internet payday loans is this true im from houston texas can someone help me . and when i try to make payments they want right there and then
