Is it possible to negotiate a pay for delete with credit card companies when you aren't currently late on your bill?

I was approved for a personal loan to consolidate a few of my debts, but if I settled with the companies I would be able to pay off almost all of them.

Will creditors be more or less willing to work with me since none of my accounts are delinquent? The pay for delete seems like it would be a good thing, but everything I've read about involves your account being in bad standing.

I'm approximately $25,000 in debt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

Yes, it is possible to negotiate a pay for delete with credit card companies when you are currently late on your bill. Usually, creditors are willing to negotiate a settlement with the consumers when they are delinquent on their accounts for few months. You can use the following sample letter to negotiate a pay for delete agreement:

since none of your accounts are delinquent the only way they would settle is if you fell behind.that would hurt your credit and this loan woul be out the window.the only scenario is to close those accounts, and pay the balance, but isn't that what the loan your acquiring is going to do anyway?doesn't make sense.

Ok, I already have the loan so I don't have to worry about that part. I don't want to close the accounts if I am going to pay them in full since it looks better on your credit to have open accounts with no balance. My banker basically used her own personal judgement to approve me with the agreement I would pay off some of these credit cards. So I have free reign with how and who I pay, but she said she didn't want to know about details id I settle. That's why the settle for delete questions....I think I could manage the damage from some late payments on my credit since its not permanent. Whereas if I settle its there for seven years.

Does that help explain the situation any better?

I'm trying to get rid of as much debt as possible with putting that seven year "settled" on my credit report.
Thanks!
