I'm not behind in my bills YET, but I have missed payments and my interest rates shot through the roof. I tried speaking to the cc company but they wouldn't budge. Do you have to have "bad credit" already to qualify for a settlement or consolidation? At this rate, I'm not sure the good score is worth the price. With a 32 percent apr, the cc company will get all the money I ever spent with them pluSSSSSS...

It is helpful to know how much you owe and if it is manageable. No one should stop making payments just to get rid of debt. Take advantage of the free consultation to your right, they specialize in debt consolidation where they negotiate with your creditors to lower your interest and make one monthly payment.

If your payments are getting to much for you to afford, you might consider consolidation, you accounts don't have to be late for this, you sign up with a consolidation company and they work with your creditors for you to reduce interest, late charges and come up with a plan you can afford, this does hurt your credit score a little but it's better than defaulting and they work out a payment to get everything paid off in 5 years. This site has a free consultation and they will review everything and refer you to someone in your area. You can click the free consultation button to on this forum. Good luck!
