I have agreed to pay off a debt in full within 90 days of a collections company(cbcs) contacting me, and they will, in return, "remove it from my credit, as though it was never there". I do not have this in writing and have never dealt with anything like this before. Is this a legit offer and is there anything I should do to ensure that this is accurate?

Are they even reporting?? Who are collecting on? Is a debt assignment or was the debt sold? They cant make promises for anyone else....they might remove their tradeline (if they are reporting) but if the debt was sold, they cannot promise that the OC will remove it.

Get it in writing.....dont make a payment untill you have it in your hand. Have them fax it to you on their letterhead.....
