Hi everyone. I joined the site because I've got a tone of payday loans. Theres a lot of good advice on this board and I have questions because something happened today.
I hired Langhorne Debt to help me with them and they did a pretty good job so far. Two got settled and one just wrote it off. I still got a bunch of calls and emails at first mostly from Bass. But I told Langhorne and they filed some sort of complaint. Im not sure if it was with the attoreney general or the FTC, but it worked. At least until today.
Today I got an email from someone named Katie at Arrowhead. At least I think it was arrowhead. They listed like five different companies on it but the only one I knew was Arrowhead. It said Langhorne is nothing but a scam, Dennis Williams isn't a lawyer, blablablabla. I been robbed so many times over loans it got me scared. So I called the bar assdociation.
Of course Arrowhead was lying. He is a lawyer and there are no complaints against him. I can't believe I actually fell it.
Arrowhead refinanced my loan for 90 dollars every two weeks for almost 6months. I must have paid a thousand dollars and they say I still owe them. They only stopped taking my money because I closed my bank account and Langhorne revoked their authorization. Then they send me a leter telling me langhorne is no good, I should fire Langhorne and pay them instead. And for a fdew minutes I believed them!!!!!
I called Langhorne and told them about it. They told me not to worry about it. When I have enough saved they'll offer Arrowhead a settlement just like anyone else but probably not for a while. It's jsut that Arrowhead is low priority because I paid them too much and there are others that I actually ow principle to. At least they don't hide like payday lenders do. The girl I talked to today was the one that told me call the bar association. I thought that was cool. At least they don't hide. Arrohead won't even give me their address.
But is beign cool good enough? Arrowhead don't want to work with Langhorne and I dont want to get sued or arrested and I think I already paid them enoguh money. Should I tell Langhorne to forget this loan and do something else about it? Has anyone had luck with filing complaints against Arrowhead? Who do I file with?
I live in PA and I read somewhere on the board that PA doesn't do anything about the loans.

This company, although not licensed in PA, MUST follow the law regarding caps on interest rates to PA residents. You need to file a complaint with your Attorney General's office and the Attorney General's office where this company is located. If you have paid on this loan every pay period for the past six months you may have already paid the principal and legal interest rate back and then some. You should demand they mark your account paid in full and DO NOT fall for their lies when attempting to scare more money out of you.

I'll give Langhorne this . . . if some payday lender is making that much of a big deal about them maybe they really are on OUR side. But Williams represented payday lenders and I doubt his switch was out of the goodness of his heart. He represented them, and I don't see how anyone can ever trust him. Use him? Ok. He seems to know what he's doing. But keep a sharp eye on him, Zippo.

I just don't see why anyone needs help as long as they have the right information. States control the loans people can make there. If a lender isn't licensed and makes a loan anyway, the lender is a criminal. Period. And if they do it across state lines the FBI should lock them up.

I used to have a bunch of payday loans and I was paying them, Zippo. I had four and didn't even earn enough to cover the fees. So I took four more. It jsut kept going. Eventually, I had twelve. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. It was like I was working for them. I used to look forward to payday and all of the sudden I was dreading it.

So what did I do? I just stopped paying them. I closed my account. When the collectors called I gave them a strongly worded suggestion as to what they should do with their mothers. And then I told them to go ahead and sue me. When GFSIL said they'd have me arrested I told them 'No Problem. I have a toothbrush with me.'

Ya know what. Not a goddam thing happened. These guys are ALL TALK. They know they're criminals. They know that if they set foot in most states they'll get arrested for loansharking. I say @%#%$ them. You don't need Langhorne. You don't need T&C. And you don't need the AG. Just close your account, change your phone number and when they call you at work press charges. They can't and won't do a damn thing about it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to get out my bank statements and see how much I've paid Arrowhead. I think its about $800 or so on a 300 dollars loan.
By the way. After I joined the board and wrote about them I talked to Dennis at Langhorne. He called me at 7 oclock on a Friday from the office. I couldnt belierve that.
Dennis said he got in a little bit of a argument with Casandra at arrowhead but wasn't worried. She said she was gonna get her lawyer after him and he was okay with that. He don't care. He said at first he wanted to sue her for wat her people told me but he changed his mind because he thinks its great that a lender is so worried about him they would do this.
Dennis invited me to come to his office to talk because I onlylive a half hour away. I'm going to go on Wednesday cause I don't have a car but my cousin can drive me there on Wednesday. I will let everyone know how it goes. But if Langhorne cant handle it, I will do like Steelers and Fightingmad say and do it myself.

I'm so glad this thread was started, because I got the email AND a phone call from these people today! I am also a Langhorne client and didn't have the chance to call Dennis, as I was at a regional meeting for work today, but plan on doing this Monday.
I have not gotten any settlements yet, but I know that Langhorne has sent letters to my creditors, as they are calling me saying they've received them. I agree with you in that Arrowhead must be very scared to go to measures like this--and that tells me that Langhorne is doing something right.

Are they really a reputable company? I talked with them today about consolidating my loans but I just don't want to be part of an internet scam again which is why I am in this payday loan mess in the first place.

You know what, my husband said the same thing. He is 70 yrs old, and he said, they used to call pdl places "loansharks" in his day. He said, "let them talk to me, they won't like what I tell them, they can kiss my ---!" He said, they aren't taking any more of our gd money. He closed our bank acct.

When I was looking for help on my ipdls I contacted Langhorne. They sent me a list of the pdls I had given them over the phone. I had to come up with $300 to start the program. After learning they are more of a settlement program rather than paying monthly I declined their program. I like to see where my money is going each month especially when they are deducting it from my account. Also I do get statements from my creditors showing what has been paid. And my creditors will be paid off sooner. However if it works for you good luck!
