Hello, I am in the process of settling with Primary Financial Services LLC. We have "agreed" to a settlement but they refuse to do a written agreement. They are telling me that settlement agreements with them are verbal and that it is safe to trust them. This sounds fishy to me but I would like confirmation. I don't feel comfortable with this but I would like some opinions please. Thank-you for reading.

You should always get a written agreement. They can fax it, e-mail it but make sure you do have an agreement before you send them money or give out your account number.

I settled with Discover without an agreement because I trusted them and they are a big creditor. They said they would send one when my payments were finished. Well, guess what happened when payments were done recently? They continued to bill me and add on late charges. I had to talk to 3 different people to get it straightened out.

Now I have to pull my credit report and make sure account is listed as settled and not delinquent with late charges.

Thank God I kept good notes and phone numbers when I did my settlements.

Insist on a settlement letter. No letter; no payment.
