reacing a settelment with Amex and bank of america visa

Hi Guys,
i need help..
i have 10k debt with Amex and 7k with bank of america visa card.
i was fired last week and my work visa says i need to leave the U.S by the end of july.
so far i was making of all my payments and reducing my debt gradully but now i cannot pay anything.
i wish to settle my debt before leaving the states, despite the fact that i know that the credit card copmanies cannot collect anything while im not in the country.
i have about 50% in cash to pay them..
how would i offer that settelment and reslove this asap??
any comment will help me as i am clueless
