- All litigation and legal parameters are defined and clarified during the initial client interview process.
- Once all efforts are exhausted through the normal collection process, the collector verifies assets and employment information before requesting authorization from the client to litigate the account.
- A notice is then sent to the debtor advising that RAMS is pursuing authorization from the client to litigate the account.
- Once authorization is received, the debtor is advised that approval from our client has been recived and that failure to pay the account in full immediately will result in legal action.
- If no payment or contact with our office has been made within a specified time, the account is then referred to an attorney where legal action is initiated.
- Our legal staff continually monitor the activity to insure that appropriate and adequate efforts are being sustained on each account.

so if i have already been making payments to them, is it to late to send a dv letter? the total they say i owe is more than i believe it should be...i have a payment due to them right now....should i stop making payments for the time and tell them that once i receive validation of the debt that i will begin making payments again....or should i just keep paying them....i dont want them to sue me...................

without something in writing?also a 3rd party that gets a DV letter can't do squat until they validate.3rd parties,or JDB'S are subject to the FDCPA.instead of mailing money people should mail a DV letter.certified mail return receipt.then the 3rd party dictates nothing.

Regent is also after me for only 387.43. I just got off phone with the "Supervisor" haha what a joke he was. They were very rude, and he actually told me he was going to hang up on me! He would not let me speak to his boss and kept arguing with me why i needed to speak with his boss. It cost more to go to court than what they want from me, they are just trying to scare people into paying. This is also on an acount i have no knowledge of, ive been to the bank and they have NO KNOWLEDGE of it either. They wont send me proof of anything either, just a bogus amount on there paper. regent is a joke and i wish we could all go to BBB and get them shut down, but until that happens good luck to every innocent person dealing with them.

i have just been summoned by this company everything i find on this company is bogus and when i tried to get them to send me info they wouldnt they wouldnt let me hang up the phone with them until i gave them a credit card number, when i told them i didnt have one they said is your mom home or dad or do you have a boyfriend. I am 22 year old college student what do i do ? when i contacted us banks recovery dept they had no records and the amount they say i overdrafted was over 500 dollars no bank would allow you to overdraft that amount with out contacting or having a stop put to the card what do i do

DON'T SEND THEM MONEY!!! They are collection sharks!! They purchase these debts from the original creditors for pennies on the dollar and then try to collect as much as they can. The original creditor has already written off your debt. YOU DO NOT OWE THEM!! They cannot pursue legal action for a debt they cannot prove you owe. I am a legitimate debt management counselor who works with legitimate collection agencies and creditors on a daily basis. I have been researching RAMS for a new client and am appalled by their tactics to get money that isn't rightfully theirs. The next time RAMS contacts you tell them they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and that you are reporting them to the Attorney General. Also request they only contact you via mail and never by phone.

So these people called and posed as my current bank. They said they needed my social security number to verify it was me and I gave it to them. They said that I have an outstanding account with US Bank and I needed to talk to them to get transaction details. Well I ended up calling the number back and heard it was Regent Asset Management. They said they were debt collectors for US Bank so I said that I needed a debt validation because US Bank says that they cannot see any information from my old account. Regent said that they could not provide transaction confirmation.
I was worried after I read all of these posts because I had been duped into giving them my SS#. I put a fraud watch on my credit report and in the mean time was able to view my report....there is know debt collection showing on my credit report.
I've seen a few posts that say this is fraudulent and I've seen a few that say it's legimate. Do I ignore, do I FREAK OUT because they are "suing me"? If this is fraudulent, what should I do to make sure they don't get access to my bank account, etc?

I paid in full a debt to Direct Merchants bank 5 years ago. Now I am being dupped by regent. I will not pay them one penny. No live person ever called. When I answered the phone it was an automated message. Tried calling the number and was put on hold for 2 hrs. Then I received a letter saying they would settle for less than the amount I owed. WTF. I don't owe them anything. There was another number on the letterhead. Called and suprise! Always busy. I have filed complaints with the BBB and Ohio Attorney Generals office. DO NOT PAY THEM!!!!!

I find it odd these people are calling me once a week, and I know I do not owe any debts at all to anyone. The calls are automatic calls from 'Lisa' or 'Mary' regarding a file they receive while representing 'John Taylor' or 'Ron Kennedy'. Like if I know I'm not in debt, why should I bother calling these people? It makes no sense to fall for such a scam.

Wow, I've been getting calls and letters from Regent on an account that was closed after someone stole my debit card NINE YRS AGO. It's from U.S Bank and I spoke with the bank for the 4th time just the other day and they said they had never heard of Regent. Regent says U.S. Bank sold my over drawn account to them. They (Regent) are very rude. I went to freecreditreport.com and NOTHING is on my credit from U.S Bank or Regent. I'm not sending them anything. Thanks for the posts.

Yes, Regent is a scam! I'm having issues with them now. The BBB gave them an F, and says US Bank has no dealings with them. Regent pretends to be tied to the bank, but they just buy the cases from other collectors. I went on freecreditreport.com and fixed the issue I had. It was so easy to get it taken off. How can it be a real issue if even the credit bureau said it wasn't legit? I have gotten the bullying letters and called them up to be bullied again. She tried telling me my husband's wages could be garnished when they sue me since I don't work. When I told her that couldn't happen cause it's not his credit, plus I opened the account before we were married she had nothing to say back. US Bank told me when I called that they are done with the issue. That's why they sold it to begin with! It's all BS! I am sending Regent a letter...
I too have been getting calls from this company. I called them
I too have been getting calls from this company. I called them back just to get an extremely rude man who said her was a manager. Yeah, right very professional. I was scared and after a few more calls and finally spoke to someone who was reasonable I went ahead and gave information to debt my account. The tactics are all the same. They hang up on you. Wont give you any information. Say the dont have to send you a letter about the 'account'. I did things backwards and later that afternoon looked them up on the internet and WOW the posts and BBB rating of F. 60 no responses to complaints. I called my bank and stopped payment! I will report them to the AG. Stand your ground and dont pay them. Demand a Debt Validation letter.

regetn just called me about 30 minutes ago on an account over drawn back in 2006 for "850" but then now i owe them 1850....honestly i got scared that they can sue me...i payed that money off to riverside revenue or something but i have no proof of the payments i was making to riverside revenue...n now thses fkrs are calling me telling me i owe them money and they wanna know how im gonna pay them back...all i here is negative things about em...im 24 unemployed n im not gonna pay money that was payed already....so do i request a dv letter...bank of america said they have no record of that number they dont know who they are...so im gonna tell them they have no record of that...that if they wanna scam people they should buy accounts that are really over drawn and that im gonna report them...and whatelse should i do...?

Unlike others, I only received the "You've ignored us, it's going to our attorney" letter. The letter states that they have sent me several notices, yet that was the first letter I received. I sent out a DV today and I'm waiting to hear back on that. A few questions I have: 1) Since it stated I had 14, not 30, do I have a claim if they try to sue. Can I make them prove to me that they sent me several letters and ask for copies of each? 2) Checked with State of FL and they have an expired Debt Collection license. Can they even attempt to send this to court? 3) This was for a bank account that I closed in 2005. Are bank accounts considered Written Accounts or Revolving? Makes a difference since Written is 5 yrs for SOL and Revolving is only 4.
Thanks for any info!

I just this morning received a call from "Mary", (949) 456-8072...nothing in regard to whom she was directing the message to...to contact Ron Kennedy as a "file had been referred to his desk". What file? Whose file? This is such a scam... I looked them up and found the location of their offices...Upon contacting them, a guy answered the phone and when I asked him to repeat the name of the company, he replied, "Did you get a call from us"? Great professionalism. I informed him in a French accent that I had dialed the wrong number. They indeed have a score of an "F" on the BBB Website. Interesting...
IGNORE THE CALL...DON'T RETURN IT EITHER!

They contacted me through a spoofed local number. I had 3 convos with them - all of which I initiated to the spoofed number to have it listed on my cell bill. I demanded written verification of the alleged debt and then began a barrage of legal defenses on them. I have contacted the Attorney Generals' offices in Kansas (their home base), Michigan (where the alleged debt occurred) and Texas (my current residence) as well as BBB and even "Call for Action" on Kansas City ABC News affiliate. I have sent 3 certified letters, each demanding verification of the claim to include the original name, address and account number. After 30 days if they have not responded with the requested information they MUST stop the collection process. I have also sent them a very detailed explanation of the FDCPA, highlighting ALL of the areas they have violated it. I did get one call from "mary" on behalf of "Ron Kennedy" which occurred after I sent them in writing my demand that they only contact me via USPS. I have the message saved. I did get a threatening letter which I keep as evidence of unethical and deceptive collection tactics. the letter states they are doing a "pretrial asset investigation" which is illegal as they cannot continue collection practices until verification of the debt has been provided. They have stepped on their (boy part) 50 times now. They prey on the uninformed and weak consumer. You MUST know your rights! Read and become VERY familiar with the FDCPA and if you don't think you can go it alone.. get an attorney. The best thing we can ALL do is to continue to DOCUMENT everything they say and do, keep all phone records, phone messages and letters they send you. Keep a written timeline of things AS they happen. and finally share this information with the Kansas Attorney General. Last week they had 68 BBB complaints... this week they have 71. If the AG gets enough complaints they WILL step in. Another trick they've tried is send me a text message claiming to be some old friend of mine who has moved and set up a new facebook page. they want you to initiate a frined request so they can start tracking down your friends and family. I reported the offending number the text came in on and Verizon said they had 100's of complaints against that number and that they were in the process of shutting it off.. (not sure I believe all that) Any way... take control, document everything and do NOT talk to them. You have to demand in writing (certified/return receipt) that they only contact you via USPS mail.
Now, not one to share "links" as I generally don't trust other people but this link is VERY useful.
http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtml
Read it and understand what it is saying. Your best defense is to DEMAND WRITTEN VERIFICATION of the debt. Anything else they send you is a violation of the law!
Hope this helps out. You have to make them understand you KNOW the law and they will leave you alone.
Happy hunting...

Umm..if its legit, why do you violate cease and desist letters in addition to federal court orders? That is not legit..just plain stupid. But..hey..it'll line my pockets nicely after a
federal judge nails your company for a sanction violation. I think Green Tree did the same
thing and cost them 40K plus attorney's fees.

I just received a letter in the mail today from these clowns. The account they are trying to claim I owe on was closed years ago, it was a loan for a car that I had. I paid it in full and received the title and the account was closed probably 8 years ago. Not to mention they sent it to me at my new address where I have recently moved, and they have my name completely wrong. LOL. If they are going to try to intimidate someone into paying them money they could A) get the persons name correct (it isn't even close btw, it is someone else entirely) B) send their fake letter to someone who doesn't have all the proper documentation (which includes the actual title for the car, cause you know banks are in the habit of sending car titles to people who still owe them money on the loan).
I'm just going to ignore them completely since they don't even have my information correct and there is no case whatsoever here.
If they contact me again, then they will have problems.

My story is very typical of the posts on here. Out of no where I received a letter from Regent posing as a law office telling me I had 14 days to satisfy the debt. Scared, I called and set up payment arrangements. Before they charged me, I researched them on the web and came across many of your stories. I contacted the bank, Wells Fargo, and they said they had no record of my account and do not show that I owen them anything, and game me the name of a collection agency that their accounts go to.I stopped payment on the debits that Regent was going to post to my account and called them to tell them the news that they should not charge me and that I stoped payment on them. Holy crap! They freaked out! I got transferred about 5 times and they told me that they cannot stop payment, they can only change the date. So I told them to charge me on '11 instead of '10. They didn't like that. So I canceled the card I gave them just to make sure I do not get charged.I am sure I will get another letter from them, but I'm flushing it.

I contacted Regent Asset Management several times to remove my phone number from their alleged "file" but still get calls 2-3 times per week. I returned another call today; Associate said "they'd just keep calling" then hung up on me. I called back for a manager, he was extremely rude so I requested company information to file a written complaint regarding employee misconduct, then he hung up on me too! I called back a third time, asked for a different manager, this woman was hostel and belligerently rude speaking in an elevated volume and said she ???didn???t understand why I was complaining about a wrong number??? in their files; she too refused to provide any information regarding Regent, the she too hung up on me in mid conversation! This is a completely scandalous organization that relies on fear based tactics to bully consumers into providing personal information without supporting documentation. I researched them online and filed a complaint with the BBB and Attorney General, I encourage others to take a moment to do the same. If consumers fail to rally together then organizations like this will continue their malicious business practices without concern of repercussions. I for one am fed up with blatant disrespect of the consumer/business relationship!
Regents is a SCAM!!!
We called the Oregon Attory Gereral and they confirmed that Regents is a scam!!! I also contact Channel 8 news and told them about these people. I suggest everyone call there local news and bring this story out for other potential victims.

RAM called me about a debt. The debt was valid so I st up payment arrangements to pay it off. NOW they are calling me saying that I owe more on the debt, and that I never made an agreement that would pay off the entire debt. They say that I paid $367 upfront (which is correct) and that I was paying monthly payments of $178 (which is also correct), but then they say I was going to pay a lump sum to pay the debt off. I know that is a lie because at no time would I have enough money to pay a lump sum and therefore would not agree to something crazy like that. They said they were going to sue if I did not set up another set of payment arrangements on that call so I did, but I don't feel like I owe that money!!!! What do I do?

Okay, I had kind of the same issue. Several months ago I received a letter from the D. Scott Corruthers, Attorney. I freaked out, called immediately and set up a payment plan. Recently, I have needed to try to set up a different payment amount and every time I called the number on the letter, I would get a message saying that all lines were busy call back. It did not state the name of the company or anything. I got online to look up the number (thinking maybe it had changed) and I came across post after post about this place being a scam. This freaked me out more than the initial letter that I received. Upon doing more research I found that they are in violation of many of the laws of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. What I did was called my bank but a stop payment on my account. (They automatically withdraw money from my account every month.) I then reported them to the Federal Trade Commission, The Attorney General (I live in Illinois), and the Better Business Bureau. On all of these I reported not only Regent Asset Management Solutions but The Attorney. I made copies of the letter I received because within it are several of the violations to send to the attorney general. The other two I just reported them online, but gave all of my contact information so if they want proof, I can get it to them. I then typed up a letter to Regent and the Attorney stating that I stopped payment on my account due to the following reasons. I then listed all the FDCPA violations (you can find all the rules online) they had made. At the close I then stated that if they do not cease and desist calling me, my friends, my family, and my place of business or stop with the threatening letters I would hire an attorney and file charges in either civil state or federal court for up to $1,000 including damages. If they persist I will hire an attorney because they have violated so many of my rights and it sounds like they have violated many of yours. I am not an attorney so I hope you do not take this as legal advise, I just wanted to give you an idea of how I started to handle the situation. I did call US Bank (which is who they stated my original debt was through) They told me they had discharged my debt and did not use Regent Asset Management Solutions to collect my past debt.

I am dealing with them now over a situation with U.S. Bank when I was 16. My mom and I got a joined checking account with U.S. Bank, I was working at the time and quit my job a few weeks later. I thought my mom left the acccount alone, only to find out years later that she hadn't. My account has been tossed around for 7 years without my knowledge and closed for 4 years. Regent is a very unprofessional business. They are rude, nosey, demanding anything but professional. And harassing pigs. I am going to demand they send me information on my account because they say I owe for 1.3k When the bank said it was overcharged years ago for over $800
I have sent Regent $200 and plan to NOT SEND anymore.
They run my debit card every chance they get expecting to get money and they don't then they call me angry and demand to know what happened.
I have asked for proof of the account before and they wouldn't send any.
They say they do not harass people they are attempting to collect on a debt. What ever. Sure you are =/
I have tried to work things out with them but they refuse and put that I refuse to pay and even IF I set up payments with them, they turn around and mark on the papers that I am not going to pay. That in my opinion is uncalled for. I have contacted the Attorney General for Ohio to see what I can have done. I have not worked in 7 years. Not one day, and Regent accused me of lying, told me to borrow money, asked me about my personal finances. It is none of their business how I live. And I fully intend to see to it that they leave me alone.
I am so glad to read these posts, because when one of Regent's r
I am so glad to read these posts, because when one of Regent's represenatives call, which is everyday, from different telephone numbers, and they can be convincing, i am so thankful i googled this company and read this information because the company is doing the same thing to me as of 9/24/2010.

I have too been dealing with the scum of the earth AKA Regent asset Management. I sent them a CMRR/ in August with no response. I have now started getting the harrassing phone calls. I requested their address and the man/manager refused to give it to me stating that "i don't just give out the address to anyone." Really? I then said i have sent a VD letter and was told "just because you sent a letter doesn't mean the debt goes away." I told him that i didn't owe this debt hence the VD and and i said i sent the letter and i know that means you have to send me the information or leave me alone. And he hung up on me.

These people are VERY RUDE. They took 2 payments out of my acct the same day. Which they ended up returning it. Then they did it again the next time and claim there no extra payment. I told them that there is a pending payment that they are taking out. They told me it wouldn't go through. I called my CC company they told me if the company can fax over something stating that they will not take the other payment then they could put the money in my account. They refused to do that. They hung up on me 2x. I finally had to do a conference call with my CC on the phone they put us on hold. My CC rep called them back spoke with a lady on the phone and said go ahead and release it because we don't see anything. After my CC rep fixed the error the payment came out. I called them back they said I have to talk to my account rep which she is so happen to just left the office. I got a very rude man on the phone talked to me like I was stupid I told him he didn't have to be rude and he said I don't care you owe and u need to pay it. I said I am paying it but there is an issue going on. He said well handle it Monday and then he hung on me. I can't stand these rude people. I have worked in a call center for years and we couldn't talk to people like this. After reading these post and checking the BBB on them. I am attempted to cancel my card and deal with whatever happens. RUDE RUDE RUDE.

I would also like to know if anyone has actually been sued by Regent...I got a letter from them for a legit debt from us bank, but it says they have sent me many letters and if I don't make arrangements to pay it off they will sue me. This is the first letter I have received from them that I know of (I have moved around a bit the past few years) and I believe they are calling my inlaws (which is quite embarrassing). I tried to call and set up payment arrangements, but it keeps saying all lines are busy to call back later. The address it says for them is in Colorado. I don't know what to do...I don't want to be sued...

Oh Lord! I just called RAM to pay off a small debt that they purchased from another credit company. When the man answered the phone I was shocked how rude he was from the beginning. He answered as "law office" I said "is this Regent?" he said "yea what's your social security number" I gave it knowing I do owe a debt and was prepared to pay it until he told me my original debt was now more because of intereste. I told him I had spoken to the previous company so I know what the actual debt was and that it was unrealistic for them to expect more money from me. I was shocked how rude this guy was! I asked for his supervisor, I got a Trevor Harmon, who I spoke to for all of 1 minute because he was obnoxious, chewing gum and telling me I had to pay the new amount. I asked to speak to his supervisor, a Matt Duprey came on the line. He was also rude and began to threaten me, so I asked for his supervisor, he said he didn't have one. I told him everyone has a boss, let me speak to his. He said his boss doesn't have a phone number, so I asked for his address. Apparently the boss is Andrew Bowman. I told Mr. Duprey that I would continue to move up the ladder until I spoke to someone resonable. He said "ok, you want to talk to the president of Regent, I'll let you talk to him." I said what's his name. "Matt Dupresy Senior"! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! So I spoke to him and said I would only pay the original debt, I would not pay the extra they added on, he said he would only accept the total. I have never ever been treated so rudely by a company! I am still shaking I am so mad. So, I am going to write a letter to Andrew Bowman at 7720 West 119th St. Overland Kansas and let him know about his company, although I assume he already knows what it is like.
Good luck to all of you!

They can't sue you. Mike Scata is the owner. They are all a piece of shit! Don't listen to them threaten you. They will try to get every dime out of you even if you only owe a fraction of the amount and will say that they charge interest on your account even more than what you owe.

The big man in charge is Mike Scata. Matt Duprey senior is the president. All the other guys you mentioned are pee ons. Don't pay them and tell them to kiss your ass. This company has so many lawsuits that they have to change their name and shut down the parent company in Colorado. That company had to shut down because of too many lawsuits. And they can accept your offer to pay what you owe. If they dont don't pay them. And they're not a legal office. There's not one attorney there so they can't sue anyone. If they say that they have an attorney retained they're lying just to scare you out of your money. to blazes these Scammers!!

I have been Regent Asset Management since October and I just started looking on the internet for information on this company to contact them since none of their phone numbers seem to lead to an actual person. I tried stopping my most recent payment, which is still pending, but being a prepaid card they can not do that. It is a relief to find out all of this information about this scam of a company. I am in the process of reporting to all of the official agencies, and having my prepaid card canceled.
Ohh, and if no one caught this on the BBB reporting for Regent Asset Management:

send them a money order w/ your act # on it, make sure it is printed clearly on the m.o. so it is properly routed to the appropriate act, as far as your act bal they add on interest, but will settle for less in one lump sum or some collection agents will settle in mult payments (depending on the size of the debt)

actually there are attorneys in office.... i should know i worked in the denver office for a short time.... it is a ghetto collection agency & depending on what office's are still open depends on who is running it. if your careful& you know what 2 watch out for they will operate w/in reason... tips: they HAVE to give you a mini mirada (ex this is a collection of a debt..etc etc ) if not given they just violated your rights (it has 2b given the 1st time they speak w/you, they HAVE to id themselves, they HAVE to send written proof of debt, & give you 30? days to respond, YOU can dispute debt & they can not pursue until confirming debt w research done (this apply's to ALL debt collectors!!) if you disput the debt & they CANNOT prove the amount owed it has to be reduced..however keep in mind they charge the MAX amt of interest allowed per state!!!! it is legal to do so...

Regent is a scam!
These people are crooks. They are not legit 80% of the time. They messed up when they contacted me. They kept telling me I owed a debt to a bank that my mother use to be VP for. (She is now VP at another bank). I knew I didn't owe them so I contacted someone in the legal department that I knew from when my mom worked there. She about had a fit yelling that those people are lying. Do not deal with them. Apparently they have over 260 complaints with the BBB and are being sued in the state of Colorado. They are known as Regent or Imperial Recovery Partners. Funny, when I called them and told them what I had found out (just google...there is plently out there) the calls suddenly stopped. Hmm. And no I was never sued and my wages were never garnished. This was supposedly a debt from 2007.
I disagree...
First, I'd like to say hi again to all the friends I made today at Imperial.
Second, if you're a really good multi-tasker the best way to handle those yahoos is to call them repeatedly - over and over and over again - to screw with them. Fairness would be to waste as much of their time as they waste, to aggravate them as much as they aggravate you.
Anyhow, my story is similar to most. I've been getting purposefully vague messages for a couple months now with a clearly recorded person stating "I have some very important information" blah, blah, blah. Okay, so the scam flag goes up immediately. But the best part is they keep leaving their stupid messages on my Google Voice account. Now come to find out, they're looking for "Vanessa Williams". Most of you will probably find this shocking given my moniker, but my name isn't actually Vanessa Williams. In fact, I'm a dude.......
But I played along and wasted their time telling them Vanessa is my wife and she does so many things I don't know about. I told them a few made up stories. I hung up, called back, and hung up again. I played dumb and begged them not to get me into trouble. Sometimes I'd just sit on the phone silently while I was working on other things. It got so bad I had a few LITERALLY screaming into the phone at me. But since I was calling back on my Google Voice number, all I had to do was let it redial and ring all day while I did other things.
Here's the bottom line, though, these people are so stupid it's not even funny. When I mentioned all their Better Business Bureau complaints, they said the Better Business Bureau is "nobody". Now I don't know if their operation is 100% illegal, but it sounds like they've violated their share of laws. Besides, they're without a doubt unethical. So I'd make them prove every last thing to you....... And if you're ever in doubt with how to handle them, just waste their time like I did.
Have you considered that while you're wasting their time, you're
Have you considered that while you're wasting their time, you're also wasting yours? I don't see the point of messing with them. They're not even in this country. They can't do anything to you and you can't really do anything to them so, why waste your time?
Just hang up the phone and be done with it.
