I wish I would have checked out these message boards regarding Regent Asset Mgmt before I was scared into making payment arrangements with them.

I too, received the "letter" from D Scott Carruthers and phone calls from people representing "Mr. Kennedy" 5 or 6 months ago. I kept getting calls from these people and I would just ignore the calls. Then, I finally decided that I should call them to find out what they wanted. I told them I am unemployed & have not been working for over a year & that I would not be able to make payments to them at this time. They kept calling to find out my current situation, and would put my file at the bottom of the pile, but they would not know how long it would stay there until it gets reviewed by the attorney and processed for litigation. However, 2 weeks ago, I foolishly fell for their threat that they were going to take me to court where I would end up paying, $500 in court fees, & have my wages garnished. I did admit that I owed the debt, but not the amount they said. They asked me for the last 4 digits of my SSN & checking information (which is a form of a prepaid Visa card account). Every 2 wks, a payment in which I really can't afford to pay will be automatically taken out of my account. They took their first payment out of my account 2 wks ago, & supposed to take out another payment today (which I didn't have enough money in my account to cover the amount owed). They said, if I missed one payment, that it would automatically send it into the litigation stage.
I feel like such an idiot for falling for their tactics. Help! Is there anything I can do?

So, you have become a prey of their scare tactics. These illegal debt collectors always use various scare tactics to make people pay them. You should have never given them any information over the phone without verifying the debt. Are you sure that you owe the debt?
