i have a judgement on my credit report and i have no idea what it is? i have not been served court papers or anything what do i do?

OK, the first thing is not to panic. If you were never properly served a summons, then it is possible to have the judgment vacated. If you look on your credit report, it should list the court where the judgment was entered. Is that court in the county where you live? If it is not, let me know, as this may also be grounds to have the judgment overturned.

Look on the credit report, it should also tell you the plaintiff in the case. Who is it? If it is a third party debt collector, then your chances of getting this overturned just went up. Also, what state do you live in? It is also possible that the debt they sued over was past the statute of limitations for your state. Get back to us, there may be a lot that you can do with this.
