I paid off my debt with them in december.I am asking them for a letter that said paid in full, they keep hanging up on me.I need the letter so I can get it removed from my credit report.I am trying to buy a car.

There is one thing you may be able to do.....check your credit reports. If the account is reporting at all wrong, you can write them letters demanding they be corrected, if they ignore your letters, (which happens a lot) you then have grounds to sue them for the violations, if that happens you then have some leverage....basically telling them either remove the accounts or I sue....but you have to be prepared to follow through, because they get many suit threats and may not take you seriously until you actually file suit.,

Paid who? What day in Dec? Was the account in default? If so, for how long?

Credit report updates after resolving an account can take 30 days.

You have the ability to dispute incorrect, erroneous, out of date information with the reporting agencies and also the creditor reporting the information. Disputes are something of a process and can take 30 days to be investigated and may require you request a reinvestigation, which will take additional time.
Have you been denied an auto loan due to this account showing unpaid?

Are there other key derogatory items on your report?

You seem in hurry. Is there some reason you have to proceed with the purchase ASAP?

Patience in this situation will be helpful toward your goal of loan approval and may even price the loan product more fairly.

One suggestion:

If the loan is dealer, or manufacturer financed, you may be able to provide proof of payment (bank statement, cancelled check etc…) when face to face during the application process. Loan underwriting may/may not consider the evidence of payment you give to them.

Good luck with the new wheels!
