Ok i am in the process of cleaning up my credit report and working towards increasing my credit score... I would like to know if its been more than 7 years on a debt and it has not fallen off my credit what do I do? also do i send a letter to the credit bureaus if something is showing that is closed and does not reference that i paid it in full (e.g student loan)?

Normally, any negative items falls off your credit report after 7 years. If you've paid off the student loan in full, then you should write a letter to the credit bureau and request them to remove any negative information regarding the student loan from your credit report. However, if you haven't paid off the student loan and the lender has send it to collections and if 7 years are not over yet, then it'll remain on your credit report.
