A service member who, before entering into active duty, entered an installment contract for the purchase of real or personal property (including motor vehicle), is protected under the SCRA if his or her ability to make the payments is "materially affected" by the military service. This act is exclusively for the military members.It actually starts on the day the military member get orders to active duty. If a military member wants to take advantage of Servicemember's Civil Relief Act, then he/she have to submit the copies of your orders to concerned persons. The Act covers several issues such as credit card interest rates, home loan interest rates, foreclosures, income tax payments, etc. The SCRA protection ends within 1-3 months of receiving discharge orders.
