Illegal Practices??

They are calling my place of work, several employees trying to get my personal information!
They have called my cell phone using my parents calle ID!
I have already spoken to the car company and told them about my situation but this other investigator insists on getting my personal information; information that the car company ALREADY has!!
Are those practices illegal? I want to put a stop to this! :mad:

Well, if he's a third party collector/investigator (which it sounds like he is), then he's broken the law. Report him to your state's AG and the FTC for FDCPA violations. The next time he calls, ask him for an address to send your payment and instead, send him a cease communication. Make sure you send it with a return receipt requested.

By the original creditor's admission, this person was hired to do the work. If this investigator is solely employed by the OC to do this type work then it is not a third party, but I suspect that it is. In either case, while debt collection laws relate to third party only, caller ID spoofing may not. Check with the FCC for caller ID spoofing--that may be illegal for any company to do.
