I got a credit card when I lived in SC in 2007 the SOL there is 3 years, I am now living in CT and the SOL is 6 years. The credit card has since been in collections and they say that I have to pay the debt because the SOL goes by what state you live in.
Is this true? I thought it was where I started the credit card. I didn't pay the credit card since moving to CT.

Usually, the SOL on a debt goes by the state you live in. But since you have taken out the credit card in SC, so the SOL period will be applicable on that state. The SOL period will start from the date of first default.
