It was 1996 when my mobile home was repossessed in Alabama. Now many years later there is a company Alliance one trying to collect the remaining balance. It suddenly appeared on my credit report for 15, 000. What are my options?

SOL in AL is 6 years on prom notes. Did they get a judgment against you? If so, that SOL is 20 years from the date of the judgment.
If they did not get a judgement, send the a cease and desist letter, telling them to FOAD, get lost and pound sand. The debt would be out of SOL and time barred.
