Communication holds the key for good settlements. But first make sure that your account has been sold to the CA. If it is, then you should tell them your situation and offer them your settlement amount. If you negotiate well and have patience, you might be able to settle within 40-60% of the total amount due. If they agree, get the settlement agreement in writing.
But remember, communication holds the key. If you don't answer their call, the CA might get agitated and harass you with their calls night and day.
Settled Account !!!!!!!!!
Settled for 50% of the balance myself today. Broke it up into 4 payments for me and was a great big help. Balance was 2500.00 it actually was turned over to a collection part and I did not know that and they were NES. Spoke with a wonderful person who listened. I was suprised to get that much off since all of these people said they were sued by Target. If you are late like me you need to call my account was charging off at the end of the month I was that late........

Is target a class of card that is handled as a "store card"? Seems like not since yours is a visa. But I have a store card with Potter Barn that I need to settle, it is handled but world financial network bank who handles lots of store cards. in my opinion store cards are much more difficult to settle than the standard Chase or BofA visa. Maybe because they have a smaller customer clientele, I don't know. I will be happy with a 50% settlement on my WFNNB card which would be $2500 a huge outlay for me right now but given their unwillingness to work with me the best I can hope for I think.
Who is the bank that has the target card, thats the key at this point. If its WFNNB you are in the same boat as me.

I am really not sure who target is with but it was a target store card then they sent me out another card and upgraded to target visa. As for Bank of America I do believe they are one of the easiest to settle, a friend of mine settled with no problem for 30%. I am paying the ones who will make deals with me now before they go to collections. I think I may have one in collections now and it will be my last to settle. So far I have been lucky that they have worked with me. I settled a HSBC today for 25% and they said HSBC was really hard to settle with. I did have an attorney that I almost signed with but his fees and the bank holding my money fees were really STUPID. I tried it on my own and it has not cost me anything but my time. I would love to do this as a job.
