Hello, I have not been here in awhile.. I have been sick and out of work for two weeks. which means i lost a whole paycheck :(
i am back now but still am not well, i only came back for the money.. i have rent, car payments, car insurance, phone, utilites, and other stuff all due soon.
does anyone know the process of temporary disability or the NJ Family leave act? everyone here keeps saying I am just out of a check but I do not think so.
i am just so worried about my bills.
but i did miss this board and wanted to pop in, say hi and i guess vent a bit.

You can apply for temporary disability in NJ after being sick for a week. You can do it on-line and your doctor has to complete the paperwork. You could at least get a weeks pay. Accident starts from day 1. My daughter was disabled all summer due to mental disorder - that's why I have so much problems with my $$$ - having to help her and the boys. Anyway you can go to their website and read instructions and open your claim on-line. Hope this helps.

You can google "state of new jersey temporary disability"

Well, every little bit helps. Also, if you get sick again at least your claim will be open. I'd try to get some help with your utilities and rent. Go to Catholic Charities for a one time help with the rent, utilities. It doesn't matter if you're catholic. Apply for utility assistance through your assemblyman/legislators office. Also, see if there is an "angel food" ministry near you. They provide nutritious food to feed a family for 2 weeks once a month. You can do a search "angel food ministries" and see if one is near you. Let me know if you need help with anything. I've done all the research for my daughter, but I don't have the stuff here with me at work. Also, your utility bill should have a phone number you can contact for assistance. Good luck.
