Husband has a judgement against him which they garnished our bank account. When the account was garnished there was a negative balance and a 30 day freeze was put on the account. They never received their money and the bank has since closed the account on us.
in the meantime we have received a settlement letter from a different company saying they own the account. How can this account go through a garnishment and also receive settlement letters? I am sending a DV letter to the new company but don't know what good it will do. Now what happens to the judgement? I am very confused as what is next and what to do. We can not pay their settlement offer but could make smaller payments, what should I do?

I think the best option will be to wait for the debt validation letter. I don't think they will be able to send you debt validation letter. Anyway, if they don't send you a reply, you should send them a Cease and Desist letter. You can also contact an attorney regarding this issue. He can help you deal with the matter correctly.
