collectors indian giving my debt???

I set up a payment with them for the 28th of feb. The payment had not been charged to my account, I called and asked why they said because billing hasn't received it yet but it should come out tomorrow. This conitnued for the next week. Finally today they say another debit company (I guess the one that originally owned the debt??) Took it back and they can't do anything???? Debt companies are allowed to indian give??? Now what if they contact me and say I owe twice the amount? Is this even legal?

It seems to be a scam. Have you asked the particular company to validate the debt? If not, then send a written notice to them to validate the debt. If they don’t validate the debt, then send a cease and desist letter to them. Another thing, have you made any written agreement with them? If yes, then you can take legal steps against them for selling your account to other companies.
