can someone go to jail without paying a credit card debt worth $300 or $500? someone left msg on the phone verifying my location, and leaving a no. 8882466420, and instructing me to call regarding a case. please help ! thanks:(

No, you cannot go to jail. This most likely is a scam trying to scare you into sending them money. It could also be a collection agency. If it is, next time you talk to them ask them to send validation of the debt. Whatever you do, don't send anyone any money (or give them your account number) unless you know they are legitimate.

Credit is a civil matter. You cannot go to jail for not paying a debt. Any collection agency who calls and makes these types of threats is generally some pond scum outfit that a) doesn't even have the right to collect the debt b) can't validate the debt and c) is breaking the law. Don't let them scare you. Call back, do NOT give them any of your info. If they're legit, they'll already have it. And do NOT pay them anything unless they can send you something in WRITING! If they refuse, tell them to buzz off and never talk to them again.
