My wife has a GE Money Bank account that should be about 120 days past due on. She got a letter from Encore Receivables back in February. We sent a DV letter and what we got back was a letter from GE asking what my dispute was. Then 8 days later we get a collection letter from Zwicker & Ass. stating it was not a threat but for us to call them. Its getting close to the 30 days i have to respond. Should I send them a DV or just call and try to negotiate?? Also, we have several CCs, we stoped paying 5 of them because of my job loss, we are able to keep the others current. Is the fact that we're paying the others gonna mess up our chances for a settlement...Is it time to just out right ask them to settle?

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
Since your wife is 120 days past due on the account, so it may be the case that GE bank has assigned the account to the collection agency. You should ask them to send you a debt validation letter. After receiving the debt validation letter, your wife can negotiate a settlement with them. As far as other accounts are concerned, you can start negotiating a settlement with the creditors/collection agencies if you are already delinquent on them.
